University's own Q & A too much for them to handle
Q. Will there be job losses?
This is not a cost-cutting exercise, so this is not aimed at achieving a reduction in support staff numbers. A key goal of the strategic plan is growth and development of the University, which would lead to increased opportunities in future.
Q. Will there be redundancy schemes?
This process is not aimed at achieving a reduction in support staff numbers. However, if there were to be a reduction of activity in a particular area arising from the proposed changes, the University position is always to seek to avoid compulsory redundancy where possible, and look at other means such as seeking redeployment of staff and/or seeking voluntary severance under a severance scheme. The University already has an established maintenance of employment policy.
Transitional arrangements
Q. Will we run the old and new systems at the same time?
This is an evolution of current systems, not a wholesale change. We would look to ensure that the transition between the old and the new structures is sensibly and properly managed, as part of the overall project management arrangements. SAMs and TSMs would be working with Professional Services teams to develop plans that maintain current processes and develop new structures.
